A Love Letter To The Mentally Sane on Suzi's Figure It Out

A Love Letter To The Mentally Sane on Suzi's Figure It Out

Sometimes the hardest part of mental health is how to interact with those outside of it. If you’re open and honest with your struggles, managing the relationships with those that care for you in turn can become a struggle in itself. A friend trying to figure out an intangible element of a person they love can in all reality be a crushingly heavy burden to carry. It’s a self regulating and entirely circular mess that makes no sense.

On Figure It Out Mornington Peninsula based songwriter Suzi accepts the mess, tries to make sense of it to herself and explain it to the mentally sane in her life.

An anthemic love letter that embraces insecurity, anxiety, loneliness and the complexity of managing your mental health; elevating it to a space of joyous and cathartic release. Our minds are a mess, and whilst Suzi may not have the answers for it all, she is trying and trying to figure it out.

It is deeply relatable, heartfelt and genuinely human whilst remaining simultaneously explosively fun and uplifting.

Debuting her full band on the release, Suzi absolutely shines in a built out format. Whilst the simplicity of debut EP I Like It Better Indoors provided the perfect platform for Suzi to introduce her deft touch for emotionally heavy hitters, Figure It Out sees her band take that deft touch and drive it full speed into your heart.

A yeehaw tinged lead guitar line laces itself through the track, providing space for lyrics to land and lifting in moments that need leverage. Slapping drums and a series of lively bass licks flesh the song out and provide substance fit for a big stage.

Figure It Out feels like the first full offering from a singer-songwriter well worth liking, subscribing to and watching bloom.
