Say Hi To “k, bye” The Latest Track From Newy Babes RAAVE TAPES

As the chatter continues to label Newcastle the music capital of Australia, local champions RAAVE TAPES have returned with their biggest single to date.

RAAVE TAPES put simply rule. They write music that demands a full dancefloor, bend the expectations of what a three-piece guitar and drums band should sound like so hard that sonically they land somewhere between Art Vs. Science and DZ Deathrays, have a stage presence that stands up to any band in the country and throw some of the best parties in the Newy region. Latest single “k, bye” is unrelentingly huge and put simply… rules.

Not one to shy away from diving thematically into a bender k, bye welcomes you into a ketamine haze of stomping bass, waving guitars and disco drum beats. Musically k, bye sounds like the boss fight at the end the best video game you’ve ever played. Flipping from an audible cruise to an absolute fist raiser within a beat and back, it is frantic but never falters. The console styled construction creates the perfect platform for frontman Joab Eastley’s vocal to soar and steal the show as he unleashes some of the most controlled yet chaotic screams I’ve ever heard in dance music.

Everything in k, bye hits with such precision that even though you’re entirely confused as to what sounds you’ve just heard, you can’t help but feel an immense need to hit repeat then hit it again. k, bye has landed itself in amongst my favourite releases of the year, signposting what’s to come from one of the country’s very best bands.
